Faith 2023 Intention

Instead of a New Year's Resolution, Pete and I each set an "Intention." We selected a word that spoke to us for the New Year. The idea is to meditate the word, journal it, pray it, practice it, define it.

Pete choose FAITH. So I made him a masculine Jacob's Ladder Quilt and appliqued his Intention onto it.

CONNECT 2023

What is God calling me to in 2023?

On Sunday, January 1, 2023, our priest changed up the services and instead of a sermon, invited us to participate by listening to several readings. We were given time after each reading to meditate and asked to jot down words that were meaningful.  I wrote down CONNECT even before we started. From the readings I wrote, Give You Peace, The Work of your Fingers, and Treasured. I continued the next several days with the readi gs and realized God was calling me to CONNECT for 2023. Connect with God, family, feelings, ministry, my husband.

In order to meditate on and pray this year, I made my own Intention Quilt.

Inspired by a Missouri Star Quilt Company tutorial https://youtu.be/zq6zRYLMHK4

I used quarter yard cutes cut into 9.5 inch blocks. Thr block size finishes at 6".

Nightfall in Blues

First finish 2023, New Years Day.

Inspired by a tutorial on Missouri Star Quilts, https://youtu.be/UhTooAVmjZE

I made this quilt from blues and contrasts purchased at JoAnn Fabrics from their own inexpensive line, Quilters Paradise. On sale for just $2.99 a yard, I bought around 24 quarter yards and added a few fabrics from stash.

The block is a split HST; easy but busy, and I started with a 9.5 inch (v 10") to accommodate my quarters.

Patty commented on this quilt that they were "her colors" and ahe told me she was inspired by my CONNECT quilt to set a 2023 intention. Her word would be CARE. So I added a bit to this quilt and gifted it to Patty.

Pinwheel Wreath Celestial Magic

Inspired by the weekly tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt,

https://youtu.be/BVO_zMVrvLQ

I immediatly knew I could make it using 1 charm pack to complete (4) 20" squares.

The name of the charm pack is Celestial Magic. The background is a sale light gray blue I bought a bolt of. There were 8 leftover charms, so I made them into 32 HST and fiddled around until I happened upon the flying geese configuration.  My left over was EXACTLY 2 HSTs.

Up for sale on ETSY.

Retirement Quilt for Suzanne

My earliest NICU team consisted of Sprout, Suzanne and myself. We made a well balanced team, leaning g on each other for support and skills.

Suzanne has always loved Halloween, and throws the greatest biggest parties every year. Of course I needed her retirement quilt to be a Halloween theme!

I will deliver it to the hospital tomorrow and all her friends will write their inscriptions.

Block Star

I hadn't completed a quilt for several months! Just busy. This pattern, inspired by this tutorial:

It was made with 2 and a half inch strips and creating leftover triangles called my name and this is what I made. The fabrics came from a random selection from WISH.COM.
