Baby Girl Stars Quilt

My friend Sharon, my quilting partner in crime, brought me a picture of a star block and a request to make it from charms for a table runner she wanted to make.  I studied it and realized I could make it from half square triangles! I know, I am not the first to discover his, but that's how this story goes.

So I made a sample block, from scraps from a recent quilt, later finished to be on the table where everyone puts stuff as they walk in,

The baby quilt will be for a baby girl. I know who..... but it's still a surprise!

One Star Quilt

A black and white charm pack and 12 yellow charms plus some white for the star.

I machine quilted 1/4 inch from each seam on both sides, plus the outlines of the star. This could NOT have been any simpler!

Play Ball! Baby Quilt

A charm pack and 2 1/2 yards of solids combined with about 1/2 yard for the borders to put together this quilt for a new little boy.

Always fast and effective, it's a split 4-patch pattern.  Completed from start to finish in about 4 - 5 hours.

Half Square Triangles Quilt

Yes, this is another quilt made using charms and HST's. Inspired by a tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt, it used 1 pack of 39 charms (I had to add 3 fabrics myself. Hence: The Red.) and 5 5" strips of the white background. I made a generous border to make it a nice lap sized quilt.  Each charm, paired with the neutral, rendered 4 HST's. I used the method where you sew all around the two charms, then cris cross cut it into 4ths.

The colors are not my typical.  It was fun to sew, but will eventually be a gift for someone!
