Ms Amy's Sunflowers

Ms Amy created Springs Dual Language Academy in 2014. On opening day she had 13 students. Now, 2023, there are more than 200 in Tk through 8th grade. Ezekiel is thriving in the second grade.

Ms. Amy retires this year. I made this special quilt to be signed by teachers, parents and students in her honor.

All the fabrics making up the blades are sunflower fabrics!

A few orphan blocks from another project matched the colors.

A generous sized lap quilt with a thick cotton batting.

Grey Plates

This little quilt was an experiment in using a few, not-bright colors and crisp white.  Sort of hard for me, I tend to love LOTS and BRIGHTS!  So, some simple dresden plates needle-turn appliqued in circles, with the theme being "grey stripes."  Then quilted by machine in a meandering, fairly dense pattern. A tiny grey and pink paisley inner border and the same fabric for the binding.

Pinks for Kaileena & Leslie

Leslie is a lovely friend, who planned a move to New York to join her husband.  We were all so sad o see her leave, but excited about her joining her husband and beginning to work on making a family.  This is the Going Away Quilt I made and we all signed it and filled it with good wishes as she left. She likes fans, so Dresden Fans seemed a good choice for her pink and brown quilt.
Not so long after Leslie discovered she was expecting her first child.  Then to our delight her husband's situation changed and back they were in So. Cali!  So several months later I got to make a baby quilt for her daughter Kaileena.  Again, pink and brown, but this time (to celebrate her middle name!) a surprising sprinkling of Jade jewels and sweet chocolates in the border.
