Striped Traingled Diamonds on the Diagonals

The triangle is a shape that I find interesting and want to try all the variations of setting that I can think of. I made a scrap quilt with 6" striped triangles.  In order to run my striped sideways, I had to cut each triangle instead of cutting from a strip.  It left these small (3") triangles from the sides so I piled them up and started wondering what could I do with them?  This is a small table runner for the entryway where we drop our keys and stuff as we walk in the door.  I scrapped together the batting and used strips from the strip basket for the binding.  A true "upcycling" scrap project!

Water Painted Fishies

My 6 year old grand-daughter wanted to do a craft on a busy evening.  So I drew some fish on a piece of blue dyed muslin, gave her the colored pencils, a few paint brushes and a cup of water.  The delightful table runner is the product of her work and it looks great in the center of the table!

Bow Tie Hugs and Kisses

I started this project with traditional colors and fabric design with a bow-tie block in mind.  No particular amount of blocks or setting decided on. Made with a charm pack, the actual fabric collection determined  the layout and size. I had about 6 or 7 left over charms.  It will be a little table runner!
I like to meander over the surface of a small quilt. Since I bough a bolt of black cotton ON SALE last week, I decided to bind it in black.  Yes, good idea!

May God Protect You

I found these linens at an estate sale for around 3 or 4 dollars.  I loved their simplicity, the great school bus yellow color, and the foreign language words which I didn't know what they said.  I loved the hand crocheted lace all around as well. I was also delighted by the "signature" of the woman I assume did the cross stitch, who completed it in 1939 at age 73.  Based on the similarity, I assume both were made by the same mystery woman from times past.
I asked around, and learned it is in German, and reads "May God Protect You." So I hand stitched each one to a piece of muslin, washed it in gentle soap, and will use them as table runners.

Vintage Squares by Ruth & Anne

While visiting my Dad and his wife Ruth, I found a block in the pile Ruth had going "to the craft club." It was the one with yellow and orange. She told me it was an unfinished doll-house quilt.  She didn't remember when she made it, but maybe in the 60's?  When I said I'd take it home and make it into a table runner, she rustled around and found a few more unfinished blocks.  They were in various stages of finished, colors that had nothing to do with each other, related only by the fact that she made them many years earlier.
So here they are!
I added a few strips from the scrap bin, looking for circa 60's things. I love what it is now!  Do you?

Midwinter Reds

Just a little tumbler quilt made from a charm pack named "Midwinter Reds."  I'll use it as a table runner.

Tiny 16-Patches

Another Charm Square Project.  The 3" blocks have 16 patches in them, each patch is 3/4" of an inch big.  Keeping everything precise in tiny squares is usually a bigger challenge.  BUT, I can satisfy an need to be instantly gratified, fondle fabrics, start and finish a project in an afternoon AND use a charm pack!  This color scheme is outside of my own norm, kind of glaring and clashing.  The theme of the fabric is robots, circuit boards, gears.

Racquel's Christmas Table Runner

I could always count on Racquel to talk me OUT of buying more fabric!  Since I have a serious fabric hoarding addiction, when I would check what's for sale each day (they post at midnight and I work all nighters!) Racqui would look over my shoulder and encourage me to "just y no!"  Well....... until she saw THIS Christmas collection!  She loved it and egged me on to buy it and make it for her!

And no wonder!  They are beautiful fabrics.  So I bought the charm pack and made a simple table runner for her Christmas table.

Spooky

I love Halloween fabrics!  And charms........ and table runners satisfy my craving to make a quilt "RIGHT NOW!" and finish it the same day I start.  So I cut some scraps into 5" squares, picked a favorite, easy charm patterns, and put myself together a table top decoration for October!
It uses the same pattern as "Charms Baby Quilt" from March 18, 2013. A fast, easy way to split a charm into a 4-patch with sashing!

A Spring Table Runner for Ruth

A great find some years back of this basket fabric, and the floral scraps Ruth won at a raffle and gave me when she first met my Dad, make an appearance in a spring table runner to commemorate their second wedding anniversary.  Spring, 2013
