I made this quilt for the son of good friends back in 2004. Logan is the fourth child of this family. Well, you know how fourth kids get forgotten? Yeah. I found it in 2020! No joke! So I called his Mom and finally gave him his quilt.

Lap Quilt from Vintage Linens #3
This is my third such quilt. I made myself a lap quilt, a baby sized one, and then this one from leftovers and scraps. The fabrics are from garage and estate sales, goodwill and second hand shops, my mother's collections, other random boxes of scraps.
Gifted to Debbie in 2021 after being signed and dedicated by the nurses in NICU.

Memorial Quilt Alden William
We were expecting our second grandson in December, 2018, when we learned that he was affected by grave genetic annomalies and would not be able to survive. I had been working on his baby quilt, with embroidered hobos accented with fabric tinting. Set with flying geese in shades of blue. Very similar to the quilt I made my first grandson.
We lost him 6 weeks before his due date, he died loved, inside the only home he ever knew.

Vintage Baby Quilt
Recently, a young friend of mine told me she was expecting her first baby, and was looking forward to receiving a hand made baby quilt from me! I asked her to tell me what she imagined a hand made baby quilt from me would look like. She said nothing too trendy, or too pink. "Kind Of Classic, and Vintage," she described, and showed me a photo of some white fabric with large low volume roses on it. Well, I have not yet decided, and am working on something traditional with roses on it, but I also went out into my scraps, collected some old tablecloths, napkins and other table linens, and put this simple squares quilt together. What do you think?

Linens and Such Quilt
I made a small version some time ago, and ever since wanted to make one I could use for napping in the afternoon. The "fabrics" in this quilt are linens; pieces cut from tablecloths, napkins, bathrobes and such. Some were my mother's; some purchased at an estate sal shop. The blank white blocks are cut from the same tablecloth I cut my Grandson's Baptismal Outfit from. So a piece of him, when I snuggle for a nap, stays with me!

AYOQ: Bluework Baby Quilt
Starting of course with his Hand Stitched Bluework! Welcome beautiful baby. I started this quilt, along with another one in redwork, for the baby before I knew if I would be welcoming a boy or a girl. It is hand embroidered and hand quilted. I did a lot of the hand work while staying with my father in Texas.

Baby Girl, my new Grand-Niece!
Welcome to the family, first grandchild of this generation Frances Marye! The adoption will be final just before Christmas, and in time to join my new grand-baby Benny who arrives also mid December. One year ago, neither of these babies were in our family, this Christmas we are doubly blessed!
Early in the pregnancy of my Grandson, before I knew if we were going to be welcoming a boy or a girls, I started the embroidery for 2 quilts. A RED one for a girls, a BLUE one for a boy. My niece received a girl, and we are expecting a boy! Both quilts were finished with flying geese blocks, quilted, and dedicated to the babes of the family.

Embroidered Blocks
I got the idea for this from a quilt I saw on Pinterest. http://yarnstorm.blogs.com/jane_brocket/2014/03/garden-party.html
I knew I had found the project for the vintage linens I had purchased at estate sales and had in a box in the garage. I also had a cut up house dress with woven girls and boys I got at a thrift store season end "everything fre" sale in Texas while visiting my dad. I cut 5 1/2 inch squares and put them together in a simple 5X5 grid.
It would like pretty edged with the vintage hand crocheted lace I cut off the edge of one of the tablecloths.

May God Protect You
I found these linens at an estate sale for around 3 or 4 dollars. I loved their simplicity, the great school bus yellow color, and the foreign language words which I didn't know what they said. I loved the hand crocheted lace all around as well. I was also delighted by the "signature" of the woman I assume did the cross stitch, who completed it in 1939 at age 73. Based on the similarity, I assume both were made by the same mystery woman from times past.
I asked around, and learned it is in German, and reads "May God Protect You." So I hand stitched each one to a piece of muslin, washed it in gentle soap, and will use them as table runners.

Tea With Lemon
I found a magazine paper pieced pattern for the lemons, and was inspired to make a quilt for my Mother-In-Law celebrating her favorite drink, tea. I used an Aunt Martha's iron-on pattern for the embroidered tea pots, in purple to match the fabric from a reproduction collection of fat quarters from a fabric-of-the-month club. The lemons were made from my "yellow box". I had another paper-pieced pattern for the tea cups from Electric Quilt. This is a nice wall sized quilt.

Little Indians
Made back in 2007, I wanted a vintage looking red and white quilt. I chose an embroidery pattern of children playing as "Indians", like we played as children in the 50's. I alternated with a block of 25 patches, HST's and squares. One of the reds was a gift from my bestie Sprout, so of course I had to add it to the quilt!
Hand embroidered, hand quilted. Makes this one of my very favorites!
