Baby Sunspots

Made with leftovers from my sunspots quilt, I like this quilt for a baby coming this year. Natalie is a nurse I worked with at TCMC. She has twin girls, then a sister, and now girl #4!

I used darker charms for the star in the center, and lighter ones all the rest.

Free motion quilted with a wavy freestyle border. A lightweight poly batting for a springtime baby.

Sun Spots (Pecking Order)

This super simple block has always been attractive to me. An excellent beginners block, it's just a snowballed 2.5" 9n a 5" charm. Jenny at Missouri Star calls the design "pecking order" and has a great tutorial.

I cut my 5" charms from my neutrals collection. A 5" strip renders 8 charms. Then a flowery charm pack was cut into 2 1/2 inch stamps. Since each charm rendered 4 stamps, you can easily see I only 7sed around half the charm pack!

I free motion with a penciled stencil loop in the border. I used a wavy line in the thin border, and generalized meander in the quilt body.

The backing is a soft white muslin with a 7 inch strip to accommodate the width.

Wedding Quilt in Peach

A young friend of mine is getting married! Her  Colors are peach and white.. I decided green would look good with those colors and this is the quilt I made her for a wedding gift. I cut around 55" blocks from the background fabric the background fabric and snowballed opposing corners with a collection of leftover charms cut into quarters by the fabric designer Kaffe Fassett, who always designs bold colors and patterns.

Bordered then with a bold green and a playful spring colors it is ready to inscribe and gift.
