Spooky Spider Web Quilt

I posted on my Facebook asking for suggestions on what to make next. The idea that had the most votes was a Halloween quilt. I've made a few but you know what?  It's October and it sounded like fun!

I have a nice Halloween collection and it was fun rooting around in it looking for 2 and  2 1/2 inch strips.

Then some solid black off the bolt and a great triangle ruler and off I went!

I free motion quilted the website in black thread. It's 40 inches square and there was only a TINY leftover scrap! A few of the web slices are pieced leftovers.

Juneteenth 2021

In 2021 the US recognized Juneteenth as a holiday. It marks the announcement of emancipation June 19th 1865. The colors are red, green and black (blood, prosperity and soil) of Africa and her people. I made this Juneteenth quilt to gift Laketa in the purchase of her first home.
The back of this quilt is a rich gold and black.

A Quilt for Brad

I started this greens quilt with no particular end idea or owner, just wanted to make random sytips to change into HST's with green. The Laketa casually mentioned that her rather tall husband wondered if HE was ever going to get a quilt...... and this quilt now flashed forward with purpose. A tall lap quilt!

The colors look a little washed out in the bright sunshine. Here is Brad modeling his quilt!

Pretty Pink Stars 2020

A charm pack of pretty pinks, some white with tiny pink polka dots and a simple pattern for a pretty baby quilt which I quickly sold for the new baby grand daughter of a friend.  That's right, starting 2020 I began selling quilts!  I retired, and looked around, and KNEW I had to whittle down my collection no matter what!  So I'm selling, for pretty low prices frankly, so long as they go to a home where they are loved and hopefully USED.  I am enjoying reclaimiNg space.... making room for MORE QUILT MAKING!

Baby Girl Alphabet Quilt

When my friend Laketa's daughter was expecting her first baby, I knew it needed to be a very pretty quilt. I found in my stash this gorgeous print of the alphabet and paired it with pieced pastel hourglass blocks. I'm real pleased with how it turned out!  Welcome Baby Zara!

Baby Sister's Choice Quilt

My friend Laketa became a Grandma for the first time this year, welcome to this amazing place, Laketa!  So, any excuse to make a quilt!  Welcome, baby Scarlet Rose!

This pattern is a favorite of mine.  Each square uses 1 colored jelly roll strip and 1 plain one. I vary the coloring by cutting several colored strips at once and mixing and matching the placement before I sew the block together.

Baby Skellies Quilt

This quilt, for my niece to gift to her First Grand Niece, was inspired by the great find of the skeleton fabric in pinks.  I just had to buy it when shopping at my favorite fabric warehouse in Anaheim with Shannon.  From there, I went into stash.  The mother to be suggested her style was"rustic" so I pondered how to incorporate the joyful Mexican themed skellies into a Rustic Baby Girl Quilt.

The pattern is from a tutorial at Missouri Star Quilts made with 10" squares.  I happend to have these squares as part of a quilt kit I had purchased on clearance, never planning to make the quilt, but thinking the fabrics would go together nice in some other project.

I think I Nailed It!

This block has always been fascinating, and now that I have finally made one, I want to make 100!  I want to make one in monochromatic colors, I want to make one in stripes, I want to make one with black spaces, and for babies, and for a man!

Triangles Wedding Quilt

Made for a young couple getting married, the daughter of a friend of mine marrying an Intern of Pete's.
It's a lap sized quilt, in muted colors with an occasional bright surprise, that was from a charm pack and I added grays and the big blue triangles. It has triangles, geese and half square triangles.  All blocks I love to make!

Baby Quilt Challenge

At first I told my friend I didn't have TIME to make her a baby quilt..... but she was persistent, so I told her to get me 6 FQ's of the fabric of her choice.

Then she bought several fat quarters, her themes were "panda bears and soccer balls" and she found an eclectic assortment of black/red/white fabrics with those themes.  What drew them together was color, bot scale, theme or size.  I was smitten!

I put them together in a cut 6" blocks split nine patch.  At first, I was putting solids (red, black or white) in the center piece and neutrals in the rectangular spots.  Too dull!  Then I started a total mix up.  Much better.  Anything goes!  I had a square of white fabric with "AMEN" in black, and 2 squares (stars on them) my friend got as a "bonus" when she bought her fabric on ebay.

I really like it!
