Jacob's Ladder Salsa Quilt

Made with some unique fabric quarters I bought in Anaheim at my favorite warehouse, using a tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt Company, this went together quickly and easily based on a 5" strip and a 2.5 inch strip.

Here was the fun part: each fabric, in Tiny scale, has some Mexican salsa food on it! Onions, avocados, chili's, tomatoes, bottled sauces and a mixed salsa fabric!

Donated to Springs School for Ezekiel's class fundraiser, second grade.  48 X 60.

A T Shirt Quilt

I had never made a T Shirt Quilt! The unknown skills of sewing on stretchy fabric is one reason, but tutorials say to use light weight iron on interfacing... so that problem is solvable. But will it quilt okay? Hmmmmm

Then there is the problem that they just don't appeal to me! Big, dull 12" T Shirt blocks matching in a grid? No thanks!

But my friend Barbara asked to to look at a chest of her now grown children's clothes. I told her that I didn't do T Shirts and she said they were not T Shirts.

They were. But as I looked them over, and she had a LOT, and she recalled the events associated with them, I began to get an idea. She mentioned how much just seeing pieces of the shirts filled her with joy, she hadn't looked at them for so many years!

I told her I planned chopping them all up, and would use scraps of the Shirts, maybe only leaving only a few letters or a date, scrambling theme very which way. Would she be okay with this? Yep!

I used about 20 grey neutrals to further stabilize the blocks, as well as some cotton from her collection: scarves, a purse, a hankie, children's clothes. I even incorporated a little woven coaster her daughter had made!

She loved it. And yeah, I might do this again.

Another Dog Quilt!

With a great supply of dog and animal fabrics cut into 5 inch squares, a Dog Quilt comes together in no time!

Wedding Quilt in Peach

A young friend of mine is getting married! Her  Colors are peach and white.. I decided green would look good with those colors and this is the quilt I made her for a wedding gift. I cut around 55" blocks from the background fabric the background fabric and snowballed opposing corners with a collection of leftover charms cut into quarters by the fabric designer Kaffe Fassett, who always designs bold colors and patterns.

Bordered then with a bold green and a playful spring colors it is ready to inscribe and gift.

"It is not chains that bind a marriage, but hundreds of tiny stitches."

Congratulations Asia!

Stunning in Blue and Gold

This 47 by 57" lap quilt started with a collection of 6 matching fabrics in blue with with gold accents. I picked up all 6 as a collection at a garage sale in my neighborhood a few weeks ago for $1. I then added pieces from my collection in either shades of blue or shades of yellow. Some blocks twirl right, some twirl left, so I bordered each block on 2 sides to let them stand out from one another. I searched for my border until I located a gorgeous blues with yellow stripe!

More Dog Quilts!

These little quilts come together easily. I keep a box of 5" squares on "dog" fabric. Just buy a quarter whenever I see something new, cut it into charms, then build a quilt and back it with flannel.

Then to ETSY for around $50. Pretty predictable sellers.
