Baby Broken Dishes

This quilt is made for a new baby coming to a parishioner family. The baby girl is a first baby and her family requested blues, greens and browns, with any quilting being floral another geometric.

I love the crisp simplicity of the broken dishes Block made from 2 5 inch charms. I pondered it for a bit since "geometric" was not favored for the quilting. I made a simple loopy line along the blocks to keep the quilting soft and curves.

There is a pretty label on the back to add a name and date.

I made floral feathers in the borders, then a binding of the leftovers from the fat quarters used to make the blocks.

Quatrefoil For The Principal

Ms. Sarah has been the most supportive principal you can imagine for Ezekiel from kinder through 3rd grade. She welcomed us during the pandemic, and supported us through his second grade diagnosis of ADHD.

So this year when we learned of her promotion we were of course thrilled for her career advancement but so sad to see her leave!

I used a Missouri Star tutorial to construct the blocks.

Quilted on the frame in a clamshell.

It is a generous 68 x 54

I delivered it to the school and it was sent to all the classrooms for students, teachers and staff to sign.

Floral Ohio Star Quilt

I made this generous lap quilt from leftover 10" squares from another project (Jacobs Ladder for Erika) and plain white yardage purchased in bulk online for $2.99 a yard.

It has 20 10 1/2" blocks made from a Missouri Star pattern and it finished at 53 x 66.

I like to free motion the borders off the frame on the Juki.

I made swirls all over the place over the quilt body. Serpentine lines on the side borders.  Some feathers and other designs on each top and bottom borders.

The quilt frame makes all the difference in my free motion quilting. I have space and can glide my quilt over it to quickly and easily fill on my dense designs.

This quilt is listed for sale on etsy for $130.

Outer Space Baby Quilt

Patty asked me to design a baby quilt for Sammy's childhood friend having her first child. The shower invite was the inspiration.

So I looked at a favorite Ohio Star pattern I have made before in 6 inches.

Darling huh?

The quilt features these 6" star blocks in golds, blues and silver. The border is a sweet sunshine and clouds in the sky. The back is tiny stars and planets on blue.

I love to use any leftover blocks and scraps to widen the backing.

I used more angular designs in the border versus curvy. Good old Clamshells quilting thru the body is a good solid choice.

Four Patch in Solids

Made completely from the scraps of recently completed garlic knots quilt. AMISH GARLIC KNOTS

Of course all that white gave me a canvas to practice my free motion quilting!

The fabrics were from a made abroad 2.55" set of solids.

I like to finish borders on the Juki sewing machine while tge body of the quilt is easy to sew on the Jazz2 on the frame.

Vintage 1960's era Patchwork Quilt

Isn't this fun? Made of 4 inch fabric scraps picked up online for only a few dollars, it reminds me of the fabrics my mom used to buy in the 60s.

Combined with a budget plain white cotton, simply quilted on the frame and embellished joyfully with leaves and feathers. Thin 100% cotton batting. 45 x 56 for a nice sized lap quilt.
