Spooky Spider Web Quilt

 I posted on my Facebook asking for suggestions on what to make next. The idea that had the most votes was a Halloween quilt. I've made a few but you know what?  It's October and it sounded like fun!

I have a nice Halloween collection and it was fun rooting around in it looking for 2 and  2 1/2 inch strips. 

Then some solid black off the bolt and a great triangle ruler and off I went! 

I free motion quilted the website in black thread. It's 40 inches square and there was only a TINY leftover scrap! A few of the web slices are pieced leftovers.

Kaleidoscope

 I bought a new ruler to make this one and it was real fun to make.  The triangles can be cut into a variety of sizes, I chose 4" (for an 8" square block) and then a selection of vert neutral fabrics that can read "traditional," or "masculine." Just triangles here, but the pattern looks like circles, doesn't it?  This quilt was a generous lap sized quilt and it sold pretty quickly for $50 online. 

Bold Fabrics Lap Quilt

 This quilt lets the fabrics do the speaking. A charm pack, not cut at all, alternated with blue and white triangles and half-square triangles in an asymmetric setting for a high impact lap quilt.

Ice Cream Summer Quilt

A co-worker, whose baby is turning 2, asked me one evening at work if I could make her daughter an "Ice Cream Cone Quilt."  She was decorating the room and the fact that her baby was leaving a crib going to a Toddler Bed.  At first I looked on Pinterest (of course) but wasn't inspired.  Then I just started thinking of the components that make up an ice cream cone.  A triangle, of course, and a half circle.  I can do THAT!

Next I saw the perfect fabric for the cones at a Summer Clearance at Quilt In A Day.  So I looked for a background fabric, and then searched my charm packs for some light, fun fabrics for ice cream.  Of course, all kids drop their ice cream at some point, so I had to include that.

Triangles Wedding Quilt

Made for a young couple getting married, the daughter of a friend of mine marrying an Intern of Pete's.

It's a lap sized quilt, in muted colors with an occasional bright surprise, that was from a charm pack and I added grays and the big blue triangles. It has triangles, geese and half square triangles.  All blocks I love to make!

Brides Baby Quilt

I made this quilt at the request of a friend.  She had been the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding, and wore a sheer layered yellow dress.  Now, her best friend was expecting her first baby, n she wanted a simple quilt, in colors suitable for a boy or a girl, that would incorporate pieces of the bridesmaid dress.  She selected the pattern, (large triangles) and gave me the dress along with the other fabrics.

 I love how it turned out!
The bridesmaid dress was sheer, so I layered it over the grey patterned fabric in 2 of the yellow triangles. I added a few triangles out of a white with little grey "x"s" just to add a bit of variety and keep it light.
I cut 60 or so 6" tall triangles for this quilt.  The borders are wider on the sides, since it seemed kinda skinny.  The back is pieced from the 2 greens and a bit of the grey pattern.

Horizons on the Vertical

A play with scrappy stripes, set horizontally, in vertical strips. The only requirement here was they needed to be stripes.... (or a few neutrals just to calm the thing down a little bit.)
This is a generous lap quilt, with thick warm and natural 100% cotton batting to make it useful autumn through the winter.
Even the border is scraps of stripes, and the binding is a brick color with orange/yellow stripes reading "California" in different sizes. I bought several yards of this fabric at a going out of business sale of a fabric store called Hancock Fabrics, several years ago. It just seemed right for this quilt.

Striped Traingled Diamonds on the Diagonals

The triangle is a shape that I find interesting and want to try all the variations of setting that I can think of. I made a scrap quilt with 6" striped triangles.  In order to run my striped sideways, I had to cut each triangle instead of cutting from a strip.  It left these small (3") triangles from the sides so I piled them up and started wondering what could I do with them?  This is a small table runner for the entryway where we drop our keys and stuff as we walk in the door.  I scrapped together the batting and used strips from the strip basket for the binding.  A true "upcycling" scrap project!

Surf's Up

When my friend Kristin excitedly announced the fact that she was expecting her second baby, many years after her first, much celebration was in order!  later we all learned, she was having a second son.  Since her family is very involved in surfing, it seemed only right that the quilt would be a Surf's Up quilt.  Many of the fabrics were a score of fabric from another co-worker.  It all ties together!

The 6' triangles came together so quickly!  I'll make another for my grandson from the scraps.

Scrappy Triangles Wedding Quilt

This one was made from scraps from the floor, the scrap bin, boxes lying around.  Even the binding came from the scraps of bindings box!  Was also learning how to cut and sew triangles from a ruler.  Plus trying out the new sewing machine fro quilting!  When Em mentioned how much she liked it; it found it's home.  Interesting; I was thinking of her when I made it, since she has an eye for artsy, asymmetrical and non-traditional quilts!

One Thousand Pyramids

Been wanting to make a thousand pyramids quilt for awhile.  Made literally from the scraps on the floor and white muslin.  Machine quilted in the ditch with triangles in the border.  These are 4" triangles, measured with a equilateral triangle ruler.
