Leftovers Baby Cars Quilt

Made by bordering the leftovers of my recent split 4 Patch quilt. Started with 5" blocks. Split them by different amounts between 1 and 3 inches.

I got the flannel trucks backing at my Quilt Group and did a very quick loop free motion quilting. Instead of batting I used a thin fleece blanket I got at Walmart in an after Christmas clearance for $1.
Virtually a free quilt to make!
Will offer for sale I e at the After School Program Craft Garage Sake.

Cars for Jackie

A split 4 patch, started as 5" squares of car,n train, trucks, and vehicles that alternated with mostly solidarity. They were "split" by 2, 2 1/2, or 3"  from center. Every row has 1 "road" in different positions.  The border us a piece of fabric from "cars movie" All fabrics came from stash. The CARS fabric was a hand me down from Sharon.

The back us a great panel I gad in stash.

It is toddler bed sized for Jackie's son.

Another Split Four Patch

This is such an easy AND attractive quilt to make. With a yard of complimentary fabric and a charm pack I can whip out a baby quilt in no time at all. For this particular project I wanted to focus on making a free motion with rulers quilting pattern in the border.

I am still finding ruler quilting to be a challenge. So when I tried to use it to make the border I kept breaking my thread. I think it has to do with how hard I hold the ruler and try to push the fabric at the same time just puts too much stress on the whole thing. So I went ahead and Drew in this border with a pencil and then freehand free motion quilted the design.

Not bad! But I still want to later the ruler technique!
The charm pack was a baby themed pack in bold, bright colors.

I free motion quilted the body of the quilt in a nice large loopy meandering pattern. Then I free motion quilted the inner borders and finally went with the braid quilting in the border.

Disappearing 4-patch Weave

I am always challenged after watching a tutorial from Missouri-Star (Jenny Doan) to make the block she is teaching.  This one is called a Disappearing 4-patch weave.  She starts with a simple patch, then slices it, twists some of the pieces, and reassembles it.  Wow!  Something new and unexpected!

This is a cozy lap-sized quilt with gorgeous secondary colors and a nice, neutral backgrounsd. The border is a treasure from stash.

Split Four Patch Baby Quilt

I was commissioned to make a baby boy quilt and FAST! for a prematurely born baby. The Split four patch (or disappearing four patch) is always quick, fast, fun and looks like a LOT of complex piecing was done.

Split Four Patch Baby Quilt

This pattern is a favorite of mine for baby boy quilts.  It uses a charm pack plus yardage.  I can sort and sew it in a few hours.  I like the look of it.  I can vary it by the size of the four patch splitting cuts.

I made this quilt for a friend who was expecting her third child and hoping for a first son.

The charm pack was cute cartoon fish: sharks, fishies, nautical symbols.

Play Ball! Baby Quilt

A charm pack and 2 1/2 yards of solids combined with about 1/2 yard for the borders to put together this quilt for a new little boy.

Always fast and effective, it's a split 4-patch pattern.  Completed from start to finish in about 4 - 5 hours.

Woodlands Critters Baby Quilt for Hunter

Back to good old standby, the Disappearing 4-patch. So quick and easy to make with a charm pack, 42 other 5" squares, a little for a border, binding and back.

The mother to be asked for foxes and woodland critters, and the color grey. I already had a charm pack that had some little foxes and such, as well as other gently baby motifs, such as airplanes, in a fresh color scheme of orange, yellows and turquoise  that went just perfect with a variety of grays I had in stash.

AYOQ: Baby Autumn Disappearing Four Patch Quilt

A little split 4-patch with the golds and reds of autumn!
The fabrics are from a charm pack and include leaves, little turkeys and pilgrims. The scale is very small, so you need to get pretty close before you recognize the little designs.

Little Boy Vroom!

Some variations on the cutting of a disappearing 4 patch. Made for a grand-nephew's highly anticipated arrival this October.
Going to have to make some accessories:  A little diaper and wipes bag, a taggie, and a bib, out of the left over blocks!

Landon's Baby Quilt

Baby quilts are among my very favorite things to make.  The size is perfect, and they are always exciting to give away.  Here is a quilt for the first child of a young friend I watched grow up. Congratulations!

Split 4 Patch

This block is fascinating to me, so I have made it a few times, experimenting each time with the colors.  This one used a collection of 12 fabrics (1/8 yard cuts) I received in a fabric of the month collection, mixed with neutrals from my stash.  The collection included several florals so I selected a green leafy fabric (bought on a quilt run just for this quilt!)  for the border.  Quilted on my new machine 1/4 inch from the seams and meandered on the border, the batting is a fluffy polyester, very thin, so it's a nice cuddly quilt.  It is for my friend, Marinee.

Happy Baby Quilt Split 4-Patch

This quilt is a "split 4 patch" made with a happy charm pack (named Simply Color) and white muslin. I hand quilted the border, but machine quilted in the ditch between the blocks.  I was inspired not by a particular baby, but a beautiful white crib!
The quilt came together in an afternoon, the borders were about 6 hours of quilting with the TV on in the background.  I really enjoyed this use of a charm pack!  Will do this one again.
