15 Christmas Baby Quilts

 I have often thought of making baby quilts for those babies in the NICU at Christmas time. Well, now retired I contacted the manager of the NICU I retired from and asked how many quilts could she use to name sure every baby got one. 15. Okay... I can do that!

Each quilt is 32 inches square, made from 4 inch patches in combinations of reds, greens, blues and Christmas neutrals. No 2 have the exact same border.....

Backed in white muslin, they can be signed by all the nurses and personalized with each babies name.

Christmas Quilts!

 These 3 quilts and the tree ornaments came about as a split pinwheel. After making a pinwheel from 2 (9) inch squares (a quarter yard) I split it into 9 equal squares. The center pinwheels became the ornaments. 

The HST's became broken dishes blocks.

Look at that binding stripe!  SOLD!

The little sides turned into windmill Blocks. SOLD!

And I cut (2) 1 1/2 inch by 9 inch strips for the tiny 6 patch blocks. 

Christmas Signature Quilt

 I made this quilt with plans to sell it in my etsy store.  My friend Min suggested Ohio Star blicks, and   I thought a signature quilt would be an attractive seller. 

I really like this circle of nine setting. Using only 9 blocks and some spacers, it's very dramatic. This quilt has lots of blank white space for signatures. I left the white space unquited for ease of signing. 

I completed another one from the same set of blocks and also listed it for sale. 

Christmas Signing Quilt

 Made many many years ago for me to have family sign every year, this quilt carries memories of Christmas' past. My mom and Ruth are in the quilt. My cousin Patti. My son, my friend Sharon and her grandkids. Rebecca, my brother Charlie and his family. This year my grandson, who started kindergarten, was able to sign it for the first time! 

Christmas Quilt for my Nieces

 I decided to make Christmas Quilts for each of my great nieces this year. 

They are for signing, as each niece is now an adult, starting their own families and traditions. 

Each lap quilt has plenty of white or blank space and very simple quilting in the ditch. The idea is the blank space is for annual greetings from whoever they spend Christmas with!  Their Mom, my cousin, helped me decide which quilt for which niece.  Good thing too, I had them totally wrong!  

Quilted Advent Calendar 2020

 Oh!  Years ago I bought some panels at a clearance, for making cute little Advent Calendars. I always liked this particular design. Anyhow, this year I could NOT locate the Advent Calendar I had made for Ezekiel as a baby. Searched high and low. Nope. Gone!

So I put one together with my panel, even got to color December 18 (his birthday) a different color, and hung it up and filled it with chocolates.  Then I found the original one..... 

Quilted Christmas Stockings

2018 is the year I finally made stockings for Ben's family.  The first year, with Zeke's birth just a week before Christmas, I simply didn' get it done.  The following years they were not settled in their home, which they lost to a fire in September 2015.  Well, this year, there is a home, and it was certainly time for Nanny to make everyone a quilted stocking!

Around The World at Christmas

I made a very simple 5" squares patchwork blanket, backed with flannel, for the diaper changing table at Christmas season.  With the leftover scraps, I saw a color story, and made a scrap charm quilt for some future Christmas time baby!

Another Advent Quilt

Several years ago, at a clearance sale at Quilt In A Day, I found these charming panels of pockets, to make Advent quilts. You stuff the numbered pockets with a treat, and count down the days until Christmas!  So, each year, as another child I know needs and Advent Calendar, I pull out a panel and make one!

Simple Christmas Charm Quilt

This very simple quilt (2 charm packs and a Christmas Stripe) has a soft 100% cotton batting.  Not the expensive heavy Warm and Natural, but a less expensive brand I got on sale at JoAnns.  What I like about this brand is the quilt is very soft and drapes and snuggles so nice!

This year, all my Christmas quilts are packed away.  My son and my Grandson are staying in the guest room while their house is under construction.  As a result, I can't find or reach my quilts!  So I needed a quick, Christmas themed snuggle quilt for the living room.  Charms to the rescue!

Another Advent Calendar

One more this season!  Popular Gifts for families with school aged children.  this one was a kit purchased last year on the spring quilt run, at clearance.  Just one panel, with folding to make the pockets.  Fill it with treats and countdown ready!

Advent Calendar

Just finished this one for a friend's two daughters.  It's a simple panel, but filled with treats to count the days until Christmas, it becomes a special tradition.

Granny's Advent Calenders

Each set of Granny's need an Advent Calender to count off the days until Santa's Annual Visit!  One was a simple panel, all I did was cut, sew and quilt.  The other, also a panel, included selecting charms and piecing the corner blocks. Each one will be stuffed with goodies and hung to count the days.

Christmas Quilt

Small, wall or table quilt.  Charm squares with jewel squares in the intersections.  A simple quilt I have made several times. The edge of this quilt is scalloped, an experiment in making it more interesting.

Holiday Lap Quilt

Made over 2 afternoons just for myself to use for naps in December!  This is the SUPER simple split 9-patch made with a pack of Christmas charms and 4 strips of 5" white cut into squares and 2 strips (plus a  few charms) of red, with a 4 1/2" border (again a few stray charms in the corners.)  I made (8) 9-patch units with red in the center, charms in the corners, and white in the other spots and then "split" them.  Real fun!

I could do it again with FLANNEL charms........ baby charms......... charms charms charms!

A warm Christmas Quilt

Big block in traditional colors made this quilt go together quick.  But then I put it away for a few years and pulled it out this Christmas-time to quilt with my new Juki machine.  Machine quilting the bigger quilts is so easy on the Juki!  This quilt went to my grand-niece Jenny for her Christmas season bed!

A Stocking, not a quilt!

A new baby in the family!  Just an excuse to make quilts and such!
