For Ezekiels 7th birthday I completed a twin bed sized quilt for his big boy bed. I collected the fish themed fabrics over several years.... I PLANNED to make this for his THIRD birthday but you know.....
The backing has assorted sharks, whales and fish.
I hope he's not too disappointed that it's not a radio controlled monster truck.....
I have often thought of making baby quilts for those babies in the NICU at Christmas time. Well, now retired I contacted the manager of the NICU I retired from and asked how many quilts could she use to name sure every baby got one. 15. Okay... I can do that!
Each quilt is 32 inches square, made from 4 inch patches in combinations of reds, greens, blues and Christmas neutrals. No 2 have the exact same border.....
Backed in white muslin, they can be signed by all the nurses and personalized with each babies name.

This is a labor intense (cut, piece, trim, piece trim, piece, trim!) Block but so PRETTY!
I made it for my friend and the medical director of the NICU I worked in for 23 of my 30 year career. It is for his first grandchild. I don't know his daughter (I remember when SHE was born! Ay ay ay!) But Dr Mo is a wise mentor and leader and a genuinely nice man.
I left space on the back for the baby's name, birthdate, and weight. Sweet hearts on the back. Free motion quilted in a lazy meander.
A collection of mostly pale pinks with a few farmers for variety contrast nicely with a floral white on white.
Some pink and red skulls in the border and a clean white binding complete this quilt!
These 3 quilts and the tree ornaments came about as a split pinwheel. After making a pinwheel from 2 (9) inch squares (a quarter yard) I split it into 9 equal squares. The center pinwheels became the ornaments.
The HST's became broken dishes blocks.
And I cut (2) 1 1/2 inch by 9 inch strips for the tiny 6 patch blocks.
My Niece and God Daughter Betty has had a rough year, and I decided to make a quilt for her to wrap up in and know she is covered and loved by her auntie.
This quilt is one I really enjoy making! Made with a charm pack, 11 background strips and 5 accent strips, it comes together like magic! I added a border from stash that is over 20 years old, I never finished the quilt I originally bought it for!

This small 31 inch square quilt was made with the leftovers from my turn dash quilt. The colors came from a fabric reproduction collection from the mid eighteen hundreds.. the tiny pinwheels are just three inches each and they resulted from using a Missouri Star quilt tutorial pattern called disappearing pinwheels #2.
I had used a set of fat quarters and originally cut the fabric to an eight and a half inch square to begin construction and the little pinwheels were the center block that I did not use in the original quilt.
